Last year, I decided to centre my very first giveaway around one of the themes I love the most: Halloween! A day after posting it, I discovered Neil Gaiman’s little ‘project’/initiative of All Hallows Read (clicking on the graphic up here should take you to the corresponding website for it). I then figured I wanted to turn this into the annual tradition it’s supposed to be, and because it’s officially Halloween today, I’m throwing another AHR giveaway party!

And because I’m almost done with Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book myself now (I hoped I would be able to finish it today for this post but alas) and I’m absolutely loving it, I’m giving away three paperback copies of it this year = three winners = more happiness!

My question this time is the same one as last year because I actually got some great recommendations out of that.

    Okay so I don’t read a lot of spooky books and I have never read Neil Gaiman. So I’m going with some slightly creepy, suspenseful books. Holding Smoke by Elle Cosimano was really good the boy in prison can sort of teleport by smoke to find out what is happening outside of jail. He can only do it so many times before he permanently looses his ties to his body. Will he be able to find out who set him up before he becomes untied? I’m also going with Wolf Road by Beth Lewis. This book took me places I was not expecting and I was thoroughly grossed out by the end. The poor girl gets taken by the hunter and then she herself is hunted by the same hunter… it’s creepy. Thank you for the chance at winning 😀

      Ooh, if you like Tim Burton movies, you’ll like Neil Gaiman books. They’re so surreal but full of magic. Just like this one!! 🙂 It’s more of a Middle-Grade story about a boy growing up in a graveyard. After his parents were murdered by a serial killer. whooooooo (that’s my spooky voice). OH, Holding Smoke sounds totally like my kind of book!! And I’ve read 2 brilliant reviews from Wolf Road recently, so that one is definitely high on my list! Thank you for entering! ❤

    I don’t read horror books hehe.. thriller & suspense are ones I’m willing to read 🙂 Very nice of you to do a giveaway though. Are you dressing up for Halloween? What will you be if you are?

      Ah, but this isn’t really horror. It’s more of a Middle-Grade/YA book actually! About a boy who grows up in a graveyard :). I celebrated it last Saturday and went as a Bruja skeleton (if that’s what it’s called). Are you celebrating it and/or dressing up?

    I don’t read many spooky reads BUT Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger totally has eerie vibes with some spook. I just started The Graveyard Book audiobook yesterday & already LOVING IT! 🙂

    I’m gonna go with an recent read but PsychoAnalysis was definitely creepy. It’s about a female serial killer who wants to quit.

    What a cool idea! Happy Halloween! I had a tooth pulled, yay! (Sarcasm)
    I’m not doing anything tonight…I suck.
    My favorite scary book is Scary Stories to Read in the Dark…it’s a children’s book I read when I was younger and it scared the hell outta me. Also, Stephen King is the “king” of horror. I don’t read a lot of horror anymore: I’m a big wuss and don’t like to be scared! 😳

      Was that part of your costume, though? Bloody mouths are terrifying!! I can recommend heparin to really keep that blood flowing. Oh, wait, you weren’t doing anything huh? Well, never mind then!!
      That’s one I haven’t heard of before, so poof, onto my TBR! He is, he really is (hehe, I see what you did there). Neither do I, only horror for kids because anything creepier will give me nightmares galore. Low non-creepy fives

    Okay, at the risk of sounding cliche, I am giving this one to Mr. Stephen King with The Shining. I first read that stinking book when I was probably 12 or so.. don’t know for sure. It was forbidden fruit, so I snuck it out of the library and slept with it under my bed for a week. Although I did little sleeping. That book messed with my psych. I was disturbed by Jack Torrance’s breakdown and terrified for Danny. And room 217 still haunts my dreams. Yuck! I reread it every few years and it still terrifies me!

    I don’t read scary books, but I have read a few books with creepy elements. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children definitely had its creepy moments and A Monster Calls also had an eeriness to it.

      Haha! Really? 😀 I’ve only seen the movie so far and thought it was cute. Buuut, the whole stuck behind the door thing-idea was pretty creepy now that I think of it…:/

    I like Tim Burton movies. They’re weird as all hell, but they usually have Johnny Depp in them, and when it comes to him, where do I sign up? drool 🙂 I read a few spooky reads this month, and then of course, I wrote my own creepy Circus of Blood. It was a fun month with lots of books to read.

    Pet Sematary. Was, is, and always will be the scariest story for me. That ending…. I mean, I was either sad, scared, shivering, devastated, horrified, and dead all through the book. That tells you something!

      Oooh, I saw the movie when I was 13 or so and I had to cry so much! And be scared shitless as well of course. That moment the kid get hits by the truck, though…JEEZ!! Excellent suggestion ma petite gaufre ❤

    Yeah, I don’t read scary books, really. I do love me some Neil Gaiman– but I don’t think I’d classify his works as horror. I adore his Sandman graphic novel series, Good Omens, as well as Coraline. There are still so many books for me to read! Do those count?

    I haven’t read many scary books.. at least none that I can think of or could find in my Goodreads list (which is missing a whole lot of books it seems). The Graveyard Book was absolutely spectacular and I still swoon over the audiobook from time to time. Frankenstein was beautiful, though not even remotely scary.. I’d nominate half a dozen of those romance novels I read in May – those were terrifying! But s an actual horror book?… But sure what the heck, I’ll go with The Graveyard Book! 🙂

      I’m listening to the audioversion of it right now and I never want it to stop! Hahaha, there’s no solid definition of scary here. Uniporn definitely counts for me as well :/
