Bookish Bingo | Fall 2016
After seeing several people participate in this, I was like: I love fall. I love bingo. I love books! And there’s no better way to get out of a reading slump than a nice low-key challenge. Why don’t you head on over to Pretty Deadly Reviews and join in on the fun (if you haven’t yet, of course). If you’re not a blogger, you can simply print out the bingo card graphic and keep track of your books yourself with REAL stamps (oh yeah!). Or do it digitally as well, but where’s the fun in that? 😉
This bingo is for the months of September, October and November. I read relatively little which is why I’m super stoked about almost having a bingo already!
My Bingo Card
The Books
The links will take you to my reviews of these books.
Graphic Novel = Sons of the Devil
Animal on Cover = Ricochet: Riding a Wave of Hope
Dragons = The Beginning Woods
Dragons and dragon hunters in this one!
Retelling = Bright Smoke, Cold Fire
A retelling of Romeo and Juliet. With zombies.
Multi-POV = Seed of Hope
Standalone = Soldier Sister, Fly Home
Purple Cover = Another Me
I think this counts as a purple cover. What do you guys think?
Now all I need is a Fall Release! How many stamps can you put in here?
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Illustrated counts as a fall release! Good luck, I’m waiting to participate in winter!

I believe I’ll be receiving a copy of that in due time :D. Thank you! I can’t wait to see what the themes are then 🙂

I really want to do this.. but I just have too much right now. You almost have a bingo! Do you have a Fall Release in mind?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh, but I’m doing this in a passive way as well! I’m not specifically picking any books for it (yet). There’s too much on my plate for that as well pouts. I’m figuring with all the books you’ve read since the 1st of September, you’ve got at least 1 bingo going on :D. Yes! I’m reading an ARC right now which was published last week, so hell yeah!

I just did the same. Color blind came out this month.. I was too far behind!

I stopped stressing out about it. Okay, maybe didn’t stop, but I stress LESS about it because, hey, not a job! We all try the best we can here I think 🙂

I think so. I have just started making it very clear that I cannot promise a review right away in most cases. But I need to get better at saying no sometimes also 😉

I’ve been doing the same in the hope of not getting another drama like the last time. Haha, yes, guilt-tripped all the way…tu du du (8) (Rosanna :P)

Guilt tripping is the worst! And drama is not welcome haha. Poor Anne ❤ you had a doozy. Just stop being so cool and maybe they will back off. Everyone wants to hang with you haha.

It couuuuunts 😀 The bingo looks like so much fun, I wish I could participate. But I can’t. Too much other shit to do. Can’t allow myself to busy myself with more fun things 😦

YESH! I’m only participating passively for the time being. There’s no way I can add more books to my current pile just for this :D. Meh, fun things are overrated anyways ;).

Oooo… I am going to try this! I am waiting to see what your fall release will be! And I am so damned mad at myself for not requesting Bright Smoke, Cold Fire just because I saw one bad review. 😛

The fall release will be easy peasy because I’ve got plenty of those on my ARC list now. Hahaha, it’ll be on sale at some point! 😉

Cheers! XD does little embarrassing dance. Oh gawd, so many indeed! But they also fit into some of the other categories :O.Looking at my ARC list, it will most likely be ‘Aerie’ OR ‘Of Fire and Stars’. Or the new HP…okay, I can tell this is going to be a tough one already XD

Are you going to try and aim for a triple-bingo by any chance? 😛 This sounds like a nice challenge to help mix genres up in your reading!

Girl, I’m sure you’ve got a triple bingo by now already with all the books you’ve read since September 1st XD. Full time paid reader sounds like a dream job to all of us probably…sighs.
Thank you! Me too! [inserts picture of my snotty tissue collection on the bedroom floor]

Ah… I’m a reading machine… because my life is non existent! 😀 But I guess, I can’t complain!
I’m just getting over a cold myself… had been going through Kleenex like a junkie through heroin. That’s a lot of paper… poor trees! But the snot’s gotta go somewhere! Just keep blowing! 😀

That’s what I thought! And then I was like…fuck it, I’ve already read enough books to fill up some of my card for now XD. There will be another one for the winter months! Maybe a nice distraction from the holiday ‘festivities’ for you? 😉 Hahaha, that bad huh?! XD I thought I could tackle several genres with 1 book at first btw, but then read the rules :3

Nice just one fall book away from bingo . Best of luck with both the bingo and the slump .
I wanted to do this , but I’ll be taking a long hiatus after one more book review . Hopefully you’d be done with the bingo when i end my hiatus 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
A long hiatus!! NOOOOOO!! How long is long? And thank you, but I don’t think I’ll get to completing the entire thing. Who knows, though! 🙂

2 months at least , 6 at max .
Think there’s plenty of time for you to finish the whole thing if you wish to . So Go Anne !

I also decided to do Fall Bookish Bingo. I’m posting mine tomorrow. I didn’t realize how many books I’ve read since September until I had to mark off my calendar. I was surprised how many I read. Crazy! I got one bingo so far and I’m working on two more. Go, Anne! Get that bingo! 🤗 You’re almost there.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah, didn’t you read like, 12 books or something?! 😀 Damn girl! Woop, woop! I think there’s an entry at giveaway prizes for each bingo you have :D. I wonder if you can use multiple cards strokes chin. (says she who doesn’t even have 1 full bingo yet XD)

Yeah, I think there might be prizes. I’m not sure how it works. I’m reading like crazy. I’m shocked I’ve read this much with my move.

I agree. There are so many genres and although it’s exciting, it also requires a lot of reading and research.

Wow! You def are close to having bingo there & there are so many great books being released this fall! You seriously had me staring at Amazon on a should I or Should I not give in & buy Bright Smoke, Cold Fire 🙈 they had ARCS of it at Bookcon but I missed them. It’s gonna happen Anne, that book shall be mine! Lol good luck on finding the right book to complete your bingo 😉

I know! All the books I’m reading now are going into different slots, though, because those are harder to fill. I mean, Sea Creatures?! I have to go with Magonia for that one! XD Omg, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, you had the opportunity of getting a free ARC and you missed it?! Lol, for shame!! I’m sure you came back with plenty of other nomnoms, though. I saw Gretchen’s haul yesterday…YOWZAH! Thank you 😉

You’re welcome, Sea Creatures is a bit difficult haha! Yea LOL I sure did miss it because I seriously didn’t have my wits about me smh. I had a 3 day pass to Comicon who for the 1st time ever would be hosting Bookcon in a smaller scale than the one that took place earlier in the summer in Chicago. I’ve never been to any of these events soOoO LOL I wasn’t aware of the tricks people (specifically bookish people) there to score ARCS have up their sleeves. Friday was my “you gonna learn the hard way” day smh, didn’t really kill it on this day. So on Saturday I showed up with a plan with my husband. I turned on all of the notifications on Twitter for all of the major publishing houses. Every time they sent out a blast for an arc giveaway or a time for a planned arc giveaway, we ran for it LOL. My husband was scoring them for Gretchen since she couldn’t get the Saturday ticket. On Sunday she & I went in for the kill LOL! I have my photos ready but I haven’t had the time at home to write the post, will do this wkd though 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
HAhaha, I wouldn’t have a clue how to do those kinds of things either to be honest! Some people are just very straightforward and know these tricks indeed. But you learned from the Friday! Lol @ letting your husband run around :’). That’s so nice of you guys to score stuff for Gretchen as well. Damn, I’m behind on my blog hopping again to take a look at her part 2! I wish they had more events like that over here as well. But a gal can dream XD

The way I think of it, Readathons are timed events, while Challenges are usually exactly that, challenges, with a set of tasks one needs to complete.
Of course, that said, Challenges usually have set times to complete them by, and some Readathons offer tasks, too.
So I guess they are essentially the same. But then again, there are a few “true” readathons (“just read!”) and a few “just-challenges.” Some of the latter are even “complete, or not, at whatever pace suits you!” 😉
