Last Week on Inked Brownies

My Birthday Haul

Even though last Saturday, I turned a number I shall not admit to in public, I still have the mind of a teenager (as most of you might’ve noticed by now). That’s why I’m going to show you what I got for my birthday this year!

giphy (9).gif

A while ago, I told my husband we should probably get a bigger TV because the distance to ours was too big for me to see shit properly (I also refuse to put on my glasses most of the time because I feel they make me look old). Squinting means wrinkles and ain’t nobody got time for that. So I said one size bigger should do fine. At some point this year. And this is what was delivered a couple of days before my birthday…

tv

With its 165cm/65″, it’s FOUR TIMES as big as the previous one (and that’s what she said). Moderation is the key.

wowtv

I tried playing World of Warcraft on it, but it’s just too confusing combining my laptop with this screen (my playtime so far has only been 1 hour and 10 minutes btw, for those who are concerned 😉 ).

Moving on! I got this Harry Potter shirt, and two lucky frogs from Indonesia. I’m not sure yet if they are supposed to bring general luck or a specific kind of luck, but I’ll make sure I’ll put them up somewhere close to my credit card.

Because it’s the season to be jolly (for me at least!) and it’s a period to celebrate the new harvest, I got me a selection of home made jams and blackberry juice. I wanted to make my own blackberry jam this year, but sadly, most of my blackberries died during the recent heatwaves. I also got a candle from my blogging bestie Liis which smells of homemade apple pie <3.

My inlaws often go to Brest, France, for the annual sailing festival there and when they do, they bring back an original French Celtic calendar for me. I absolutely LOVE these. Next to it on the picture, there’s also a Celtic gift, this one from Ireland: a necklace with a birth ogham (the oldest Celtic writing in the world) of the Celtic tree calendar on it. Mine is the apple tree which represents sensitivity, adventurousness and generosity. It doesn’t say anything about sausages, but I can find myself in these words and LURV the necklace!

Here’s another shot of what the calendar looks like on the inside ❤calender2

Onto the books! (I put up the frogs for mere decoration, but also in the hope that they’re secretly a lucky charm for getting more books). I think the first two books pretty much speak for themselves: I wanted them, I got them <3. The Feckin’ Book of Irish Insults, though…I nearly died with laughter when I opened it. Liis sure knows what I like (and not in a dirty way)! Expect to find many quotes from it in my upcoming reviews! Here’s one for now:

Any friend of yours is a friend of yours.

– You are a gobshite, as is anyone associated with you

Furthermore, I got a lovely bunch of flowers, a candle smelling of sugary almonds, and a hilarious diary from Zeeland for 2017.

Flowersbday.jpg

*All my other presents were envelopes with money, but I’m not going to take any pictures of that ;).

*And two bars of my favourite type of chocolate which I forgot to include in the pictures!!

I’m going to eat the last piece of my cherry pie now before trying to get my garden ready for winter (this sounds so suggestive again *sigh*).

And because it’s fall, it means it’s Twin Peaks time again!

  3. Score, yo!!! 🙂 Some really lovely presies there… Had to LOL over TV.. my mom got a bigass TV for her birthday a year ago because she claimed she couldn’t see the subtitles on the old TV which wasn’t that tiny either… she refuses to go to the optician, but reads magazines/newspapers with the aid of a magnifying glass! XD And you should wear your glasses… get cooler frames.. do that sexy teacher look!

I love the look of that calendar by the way! Your inlaws are awesome 🙂 And blackberry jam is the best! It’s funny how back in Estonia I’d be so grumpy about having tp pick the berries cos we have like 15 berry bushes… now I miss them but am planning to plant some in Ireland as well, I hope the rainy weather ain’t going to kill them though… and not enough sunshine will probably delivery poor taste!

This is a lovely post- I’m so glad you got some really cool presies! 🙂 ❤

    • IKR?! Especially the stuff from Ireland ;). Hahaha, it’s a thing!! If ya can’t see it, look at bigger things! XD I go to the optician every other year, but just refuse to wear them when it’s not absolutely necessary :3. Sexy teacher my arse, Nana Mouskouri’s more like it I’m afraid XD. Yes, I spend a lot of hours on the toilet because of those calendars! Aah, that’s always the case innit? You totally should. The weather’s usually not much better over here and it worked for me! Not enough sunshine makes them sour as feck though ;). Thank you x2!! ❤

  6. Thank you gorgeous for adding Agent Cooper at the end! He goes perfectly with my morning coffee. Looks like you scored this year. How old are you again, twenty? 😉 Trying to play WoW on a 65 inch hahahaha. I laughed at this. I can see my BF doing it. Only he would actually like it. I will stick to the pc.

I also have a cope of Ready Player One here to read. Some lovely friends from PA sent it, and I have slacked. I hear incredibly things though. It will be fun to see how we both like it.

Glad you scored big! Hugs and all of that mushy stuff. (FYI I use reading glasses, but manged to find a pair I was told we “hot librarian” style 😉 ) Just get those.

    • You’re very welcome! I’ve been a cherry pie lover ever since the show aired <3. My sister used to bring bottled cherries upstairs for us to nibble on while watching, though, and told me “This is what it looks like when you get your period”. And that didn’t stop me from loving it!! O_o 23 dear, 23 ;). Haha, yeah, it was like sitting on the front row of a movie theater during a 3D movie…not recommended (I can’t watch any 3D anyways without vomiting or passing out :’). I won’t get to it until I’ve read at least 8 other books on my list first, but we could sort of read it together eventually? :3 I’m a terrible slowpoke though… ❤ (https://inkedbrownies.com/over/…I suck at it XD)

  7. What a fantastic celebration! I love the calendar! I think that is so cool. That is a magnificient TV! I think mine is a 50″ in both the bedroom and living room. I love it, and I am getting blind as a bat like my mom. I hate squinting at the TV at the man’s house, though. For the distance from the couch, it is too small.

    Liked by 1 person

    • \o/ I’d love to have some posters similar to the calendar’s art style to hang on my walls one day. Flower power! Blind from watching a TV that’s too big or just in general? The distance from my couch to this TV isn’t even optimal yet according to the calculations :’). I’ll just drag the couch closer by, though ;).

  15. GLASSES ARE FUN! I’ve been wearing them since I was 6 months old 😀 I feel naked without them 😂 That is a TV. What if Samara comes out of it??? She’s got plenty of room there!!! France! Me! Well, I’ve never been to Brest and I never use calendars xD It was weird seeing French in this post. Will I ever get used to things not written in English? I doubt it! That’s a brilliant haul 😀 Happy birthday again! Next year I’m sending you Saucisses de Toulouse!!!

    Liked by 2 people

    • 6 months? Oh, wow! That’s a loooong time indeed!! I got mine when I was 16, but only wear them when I really have to be able to see stuff :D. Omg…stares at the humongous black screen thank you for putting that nightmare into my brain :’). You never use calendars?! I thought you were super duper organised! XD Oui, Janvier! Il sera toujours étrange ;). Thank you again, and omg, YES!!! :-*

  23. Happy Birthday, Sausage Queen! We need to make you a proper crown out of sausages. 🙂 Awesome haul you got there. And that TV… what a score! All of my TVs are these monstrosities that most men would get hard over. I need my TVs to be big enough to see with my vision. Otherwise, I’m squinting, and like you said, wrinkles, and I can’t have none of that. I stay out of the sun and drink tons of water for that exact reason. Ain’t nobody got time for that is right. 😉
