Exploding the Myths about ‘Feminism’!

Why feminists don’t hate men…

Novelacious

We all have been listening and even debating a lot about this term called ‘Feminism‘ since so many years, especially, it has gained a lot of momentum nowadays. These days, we try to scrutinize almost every issue through the lens of feminism, be it entertainment sector, education sector or political sector (which is definitely a good thing to do). Everybody is supporting this radical movement and are trying to associate or have already associated themselves with the idea of being a feminist. But when asked what the term means, people often come up with lame answers and they don’t even know what it really signifies.

This word has become like a fashion statement, especially for girls and a reason for boys to shun girls down as if they are breaking up because you are too much of a feminist (WTF, I know). People have a lot of myths…

Nice post , didn’t know that the male gender were feminist as well

That said I think many people of both gender use feminism as an excuse to discriminate each other ,some Male won’t tolerate arguments from Female saying they are on a feminist propaganda and then some females can’t discriminate by not listening to logic and calling their opponent anti-feminist and because of people like that Feminism has lost his purpose on many a ear

Great post though thanks for the share

    • Yes, they should probably rename the word ‘feminism’ because it just has such a negative vibe going on around it while it’s all just about equality. I read quite a few ‘feminist’ comics in which the men are displayed as idiots. Now that’s just wrong! Thank you for the thoughtful comment! 🙂

  2. Hmm, such a good post! I think this is a great topic as well, to be honest, many people don’t even understand what feminism means because so many women have different ideas themselves of the concept. Thank you for sharing this information!

I’ve long been aware of what ‘feminism’ was meant to be (as defined in the complete article), and agree that the word has taken unfortunate (and diverse) meanings. Men have VERY different ideas about what it means. Yes, we ought to have a new word.

    • Sadly, it’s like that indeed. Maybe I should make a contest to see who comes up with the best new word for it!

Just one final thought – if we had a truly equal society we wouldn’t need a word. Same applies to ‘;racism’ and a few other ‘isms’

        • We could have a word, but it would be a word describing fiction because it would no longer exist :). I truly think that day will never come, though. Depressing thought as that may be.

Yes, Anne, but I hope you’re wrong. BTW, I wonder if you’ve read The Alphabet and the Goddess by Leonard Shlain. I can recommend it.

    • So do I! But with the economy and global warming crisis coming on, I’m afraid there will be a lot of people going nuts again :(. I have not! But I just read the synopsis on Goodreads and it seems very interesting! Literacy being the root of the ‘war’ between genders…

        • That’s great! Thanks for the tip :). It would take months for be to be able to read the book with my current schedule, but this is a perfect compromise.
