Last Week on Inked Brownies

It’s my Blogiversary!!

1

Okay, so technically I got the WordPress notification yesterday, but I didn’t start posting things until the 17th. Plus today is my dad’s birthday so I think the 16th is the perfect compromise to celebrate it!

Blablabla, the year has flown by and I never believed I would actually make this work the way it’s working now. I gave it three months to be honest because that’s usually when I start getting bored of things. There are obviously exceptions to this, and blogging turned out to be one of them. I’ve met some of the most amazing people on here. Even in real life! *waves at Cindy* And the books, ohmygawd, the awesome books I’ve discovered through blogging!

I also went from being a random Goodreads user to a half arsed social media expert with a little knowledge of HTML and CSS. So yes, this might be a very time-consuming hobby (sorry hubby), but so far, it has been well worth my time!

Thank you all for sticking with me through thick and thin (especially thick since I got fat in no time after getting married last year)!! ❤

In the spirit of celebrating, I’m doing a giveaway of stuff I’ve collected myself. It’s a mishmash of little things I hope one person gets to enjoy it as much as I would if I could sign up for this giveaway myself (maybe I should hm *strokes chin* 😉 ).
Apologies to my male subscribers for having lots of ‘girly’ items in here, but hey, you can see it as a chick magnet! Give it to a girl you like or sit somewhere on a bench with your colouring book and come off all artsy. Chicks also love it if their man can bake cookies *nods*. I’d just keep the chocolate to myself if I were you…

The Prizes.png

Prize10

– Dutch Droste chocolate Dutch edition

– A magic towel

– A colouring book to go for ‘adults’ with colouring pencils included

– 4 boxes of differently flavoured Cup Cake tea

– Cup Cake tins with authentic Dutch prints on it (a.k.a. “Look, it’s a windmill!”)

– A dough stamp with one extra bonus stamp to make those cookies look extra cool

– A white and golden notebook

– Stick-it notes

– A facial mask

– A tote bag designed by yours truly (okay, so I stole the text off the interwebz obviously)

– An unbelievably cute Jip and Janneke stamp set with 8 ink pads included (Jip and Janneke is a Dutch children’s book series with illustrations made by Fiep Westendorp. As I said in my book review of Tow-Truck Pluck yesterday: I luuuuuurv her illustrations!)

It wouldn’t be a giveaway to celebrate a book blog anniversary if there wasn’t a book included ammiright? Well, there most certainly is one! If you win this giveaway, you can pick a book of your choice from all the books I’ve rated with 5 brownies over the past year*(ain’t nothing girly about those guys) and get a hard copy (if possible) of it, unless you prefer a paperback or e-book, of course ^^.

*Tow-Truck Pluck isn’t on this list because it won’t come out until January, 2017. If you want it, you can have it, but it means you’ll have to wait a while 🙂

There will be one winner of the total prize package (filled tote bag + book) AND another winner of just one of the selected books. The giveaway is open INTERNATIONALLY from the 16th of August until the 26th of August.
(See general terms and conditions HERE).

You can sign up by clicking on the Rafflecopter link HERE.

My question for this giveaway is (you can get 5 entries by answering this one):

Which of these books would you like to win and why?

Let me know in the comment section below and don’t forget to validate the 5 entries by using the Rafflecopter link 🙂

  1. Happy blogiversary Anne !! Congratulations with this great achievement and I hope for many more years of your entertainment! What a great giveaway too ! There are actually 3 books that I’d like to win so any of these three (All The Light We Cannot See, Ink and Bone or Frank Friendship n°2) would please me very much as I’ve heard great things about them all apart from your 5* rating.

    • Thank you!! That’s great to hear because I had doubts for a minute that I didn’t provide enough books to choose from this way 😀

  2. Happy blogiversary! 🙂 (and happy birthday to your Dad too, I hope he’s doing ok).
Gosh, it’s so hard to choose from those books. I’m a bit obsessed with the cover of Lucky Strikes, but I think I’d definitely enjoy Ink and Bone… hmn. Lucky Strikes. Yes. Definitely. Probably. No, yes, Lucky Strikes 🙂

Hhhmmm, not to sure about the strokes chin part though, that more applies to males with beards debating something evil! 🙂

    • LMAO! Thank you!! I don’t think WordPress gives out achievements for the latter one yet pouts :’).

Who says I don’t have a beard?? Can’t wait for Movember so I can match it with my awesome mo! 😉

  5. Big big big congratz on the blogiversary! You are an amazing blogger and I hope you’ll continue for a long time to come!
Love the giveaway as well, even though I’m not that into baking. My boyfriend is though (and it’s true what you said about girls, guys and baking!)
Choosing one book is so hard! But I think I’d go with either The summer that melted everything or Ink and Bone. I like both premisses and read some awesome reviews on both. Maybe Ink&bone just a little more because of the beautiful cover!

    Liked by 2 people

    • Thank you so much! blushes Haha, my hubby sent me home made muffins by mail before we started dating. It’s a dealbreaker, really ^^.

Ink and Bone has a gorgeous cover indeed! And it’s somewhat more lighthearted than TSTME. But I can highly recommend both, obviously ;).

  6. Happy Blogiversary!!! If I had to pick a book I would go for ‘Ink and Bone’ since I like the cover and title very much. It sounds mysterious and I’m really curious about the story ^^

  7. Hey! Congrats on the blogiversary. I literally laughed out loud. I’m just starting my own blog and I literally said to myself “see if I make it past three months, then I will know if I’m serious” lol.

Regardless. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! All of these books sounded so intriguing but the one that grasped my attention the most was Ink and Bone.

But I actually made note of several of them because they sounded so interesting.

    • Thank you!! 🙂 Haha, they say 3 months and 2 years are the two crucial moments where people decide to quit or go on anyways ;). I hope you’ll stick around for the 2 year-mark at least! 😀

Excellent choice nods (but they all are!)

  8. Happy blogiversary!!!

I would have to pick Ink and Bone, purely because I had an ARC copy and loved it, so why not get it in hardback too, eh? 🙂

Congrats on your milestone! I would choose The Summer That Melted Everything. I like the whole devil angle. Somehow anything devil-related appeals to me :

    . Lucifer, the TV show
    . Devils food cake
. My daughter — no, she’s not the devil but we call her “2/3 devil” because she was born 6/6/05.

    Thanks 🙂

    HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!
I still can’t believe you’ve only been blogging for a year. I definitely thought you’d been blogging for at least three. Or maybe two. But basically I just figured you’d been awesome and brilliant from the start (which I’m sure you were! ;D)
There are so many good books on here…! I’m glad I already have All the Light we Cannot See, but I think it’s a toss up between Lucky Strikes and the Summer that Melted Everything. They both sound so intriguing and magical! And I loved your reviews for both of them. That’s always the biggest selling feature. 😉

  27. Hey! this is pretty awesome girl! I am proud of you for coming a long way in your blogging and happy birthday to your dad! Hope he enjoys his big day! Obviously you are one of the most awesome book reviewers around (rumor has it).. I won’t say who spread this rumor because it could have been me, but the world may never know! LOL. Didn’t realize you had gotten married last year, so congrats to that as well!!! big accomplishments! You are growing up so fast, I remember when you were just a young lad trying to find her way and now you are a force to be reckon with! LOLOL cliche, I know. no judgement please, I prefer being cheesy when necessary. I will make mention that the book of choice I would want is the “summer that melted everything”, based on the book review that you have done for it, I thought it seemed like a good read! I only read fitness magazines now in order to get ideas for blogging to see why someone is throwing a bitch fit about some celeb who faked their way to weight loss. Lmao! kidding! but seriously.. I haven’t read a good book in a while!

Hmm what else can I say to make sure I have written the longest paragraph in the comment section.. thinking . Oh yes, so if you have any leftovers from the prizes.. ya know crumbs or if you get a paper cut reading a book and get pissed and decide to rip a page out and want to send it to me, no complaints 😀 Again, congrats, you have been grand to follow and speak to! keep up work and continue to enlighten us with your personality and love for books!

Awesome! I’d be honoured to deflower you on the world of books again :’).

It works like a raffle, you put your entries in and in the end, the program picks a random winner. As far as I know, I have absolutely no influence over it :D. • 👍 REAL oak leaves, not these little 1/2″, crispy, oval things we have, and REAL live fir and pine and Normandy spruce (although our scattered stands of Australian pines are nice) and willows and cedar, sasafrass and elm and real maples with full sized leaves…and DIRT, omg, COOL DIRT instead of the hot sand with its encumbant sandspurs that you must sit on under our “trees” here!!

Give me eagles and hawks instead of vultures!

Don’t get me wrong…Florida is a great place……(to visit. I just never wanted to come back to live here😕)….with the beautiful beaches and hot summer sun. Keywords: Beaches. Sun. Hot. SUMMER.

Here’s the dealie: the above summer in FL, but with wonderful trees to hide under when necessary, “Frost on the Pumpkin” autumns where you can taste the coming winter on your tongue when you breathe through your mouth, ice crystals in your face when you stand outside in a softly falling snow, but a warm fire when there’s a blizzard.

Four distinct seasons in a place that has all the types of land I love: tropical style beaches, huge mountains, flat fields and meadows and glorious waterfalls.

Hahaha nope. I’m so busy these days there’s no time for binge watching anything. 😦 I’m, however, rewatching Friends and that’s because it won’t take a lot of my attention since I have watched it before. I have a lot of practicals to do. A lot of homework so I just watch the episodes and do the homework most of the time.
And then there are so many assignments and I have exams next month.. I honestly have no idea how I’m still alive!
            I know, right?

  39. Hey Anne, I already entered the giveaway and all that jazz, but I just had a need to tell you that I finished The Summer That Melted Everything this weekend and Oh my God, that book was perfection, it broke me into thousand little pieces, so I changed my mind about the book I would choose, but that’s not why I am leaving you this comment now, but to just tell you how I also think that book was amazing! The best read of 2016 for me!

  43. The first year is the hardest, so you are home free! Congratulations! I would pick The Serpent King because I LOVED IT and I want it in hardcover for my shelves. My Kindle jumped and my Twitter went through as only @LaLaT and not @LaLaT0adstOne. Sorry. Thank you for the stellar giveaway. 🙂

    • Haha! Thank you! 😀 I know what you mean there, I read the e-ARC and then found a hard copy in one of my Owlcrate boxes. Hubby said “That’s lame, you already read that”. But I was like, SO? I loved it and now that love is on display for everyone who enters my house to see. No probs, I’ll figure it out when I see a LaLa popping up ;).

Thanks for the giveaway, you have one book on your list that I’ve been meaning to read for quite some time now – The Serpent King. I read so many great reviews of this one and I’d love to read it myself.
