Last Week on Inked Brownies

July Wrap Up + Hiatus Announcement

Well, well, well, I can’t say July was a very productive month for me book-wise. I’ve only managed to read 5 books…

I did quite a few tags (which I normally hardly ever do), was featured as one of Inge’s BFF’s @ The Belgian Reviewer, and did an interesting Q&A with the lovely Tiffany McDaniel.

This is actually still pretty impressive *shoves feather up my own arse* because I initially expected to hardly be around at all with all of the stuff going on in my life at the moment. However, I did realise I needed to take a break from a lot of things in order to focus on staying relatively healthy myself and being there for my family.

My dad’s surgery went well in itself, but there have been so many complications afterwards that he’s still in the hospital and hasn’t been able to eat anything since the 18th of July (apart from a few popsicles). His bowels have shut down, tube feeding wasn’t an option, so he got a couple of bags with glucose, vitamins, and minerals intravenously on his chest. The IV got infected, though, so now he hasn’t gotten any ‘food’ inside of him again for the past 3 days…

The results of his lymph nodes are back in, but the surgeon wants to discuss them while the ‘entire’ family is present this upcoming week. I honestly don’t know if that’s standard procedure or if it’s a good or a bad sign? The extra days of waiting are a giant pain in the arse, though. My mum is coping surprisingly well, yet we all still need to take care of her 24/7 in shifts.

Which is why I’m taking a break from my blog, starting tomorrow (I’m going to try and put up one more review of The Telling). My aim is a 2-week break, but it all depends on the circumstances, really. I have my blogiversary coming up on the 15th or 17th of August (I keep forgetting ^^), and already bought a tote bag full of presents for a Giveaway, so I hope I’ll at least be back on time for that.

See you all back here again then (I hope)! I’ll be checking in occasionally to see what you guys are up to in the meantime 🙂

Cheerios!

– Anne

        • Haha, I can imagine so! I mean, how else are you supposed to keep track of your reading process and rant about it to someone other than poor hubby?! 😉 ❤

  10. Oh, Anne, I am sorry. This sounds similar to what we went through with my grandfather. They told us everyday to make preparations, and three years later he is still here. I hope the surgeon has good news to share. This will all be be here when you get back. Take the time you need for you and your family. hugs
