The Liebster Award is an award for bloggers. It helps to discover new blogs and to build a sense of community in the blogging world.

Thanks to the lovely Kelly from The Bookshelf Blog for nominating me!

Here are the rules:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
  • Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them
  • Give them 11 questions of your own

Questions:

~If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, what genre would you choose? ~

My first instinct tells me to type Fantasy. Which I just did. Yet I think I’d get very bored with it after awhile, reading about elves and quests for the rest of my life (unless I get hit by a train tomorrow of course). So I would choose historical fiction instead because you can go many ways with it and even incorporate a few fantasy elements in there as well.

~What are your blogging goals for 2016?~

Stick to a tighter schedule, shorten my reviews a little and make everything look just a tat bit more professional.

~What is your favourite book and why?~

I’ve been feeling so much love for The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame for a long time now. It has basically everything in it that makes me happy. A lot of people don’t know the deep shit this book actually entails. There’s also David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Mr.Micawber is one of my all-time favourite fictional characters.

~How did you come up with your blog name?~

This is actually pretty embarrassing since I used a random blog name generator. I knew it was going to be a book blog and I love eating brownies, so when I saw Inked Brownies as a suggestion, I thought it was awesome on so many levels that I didn’t hesitate to use it. I’m not so sure about it now, though :D.

~What was your favourite subject at school and why?~

I was a straight A student when it came to English, yet I can’t say it was my favourite as in actually looking forward to going to class. This was mainly due to the dull and uninspiring teachers, I suppose, but also the rather unchallenging study material. The classes that I was looking forward to were my physics classes, due to an entirely different reason than loving the subject (in fact, I really didn’t like physics at all): I had a massive crush on my physics teacher. Even though I’m a married lady (*snorts*) now, I still dream about him occasionally. Oh, the numerous times I intentionally threw my pencil on the floor, just so I could bend over to grab it in front of his nose…embarrassing!

~What are your favourite hobbies? (other than reading hehe)~

I love playing games. My husband has been creating a huge boardgame collection over the past few years and even though I’m not as passionate about it as he is (games are his books), I still love to play for hours on end. I used to be a hardcore video gamer as well, but I just can’t be arsed anymore for the past year or so. Last game I bought was a Hearthstone expansion pack. I also love to make music, but only when no one else is around. Then there’s baking, gardening, boxing, painting and making weird things with clay. Most of the latter ones have been very neglected ever since I started my blog…

~Which author inspires you the most?~

Neil Gaiman’s pretty awesome. So is R.G.Manse by the way, you should totally check out his Frank Friendship series.

~Tell me a random fact about you!~

I’m 6 years and 4 months older than my husband, which makes me a puma, I believe?

~What was the first book you ever read?~

My very first book was probably this one:Loekboek1144
Yet this is isn’t really a ‘book’ book. My first of those would be:

0c40d140-2e19-012d-c958-0050569428b1

Pinkeltje is a gnome who lives under a pantry together with a family of mice. He’s also friends with the other animals in the house, including a spider that lives in the clock in the living room. I can still read books from the Pinkeltje series today and enjoy them immensely!

~What is your guilty pleasure?~

Eating way too much chocolate.

~If someone wrote a story about your life what would the title be?~

‘Fuck this Shit: A Memoir’. Or wait, when someone else writes it! ‘Fuck this Shit: a Biography’. (I’m sorry I couldn’t come up with something more inspiring, Kelly!)

As for the nominating part, I nominate everyone who took the time to fully read this post because, let’s be honest here, that certainly deserves an award! 😉

My 11 questions for you are:

  1. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
  2. How many books do you think you have read by now?
  3. If you had to pick a bookish tattoo for yourself, what would it be of?
  4. Did you grow up amongst other readers or are you the literary sheep in the family?
  5. If you could write a book, what would it be about?
  6. What’s your favourite cake/pie/baked good?
  7. If you could choose to live in a different country, where would it be?
  8. What would you do if you were without an internet connection for 80 days?
  9. What’s the most creative thing you’ve ever done?
  10. Describe yourself in three words.
  11. Describe your perfect writing circumstances. Do you have a specific time preference? A certain ritual or habit? Does it have to be quiet or do you listen to music while writing? Are other people allowed to sit near you without disturbing your train of thoughts?

  1. Ah, you lucky puma! I’m 9 years younger than my hubby 😀
And the story about your physics teacher? Wow, girl! 😀 hahaha… my physics teacher (in basic school) hated me because my brother sent him to where the sun doesn’t shine about 10 years prior to teaching me.. so, that was a pain!
Also- historical fiction- yhuss! high fives … That would be my choice as well…

    • No one ever notices it, yet I’m always worried someone will think I’m his older sister or something :P. W00t, you should have a very mature man then :D. Right? I really don’t give 2 shits about age, as long as you get along and are on the same level I guess. Though, I have to admit, I’d never go <20 anymore ;). Haha, I didn’t do my homework just so I’d get detention with him. That’s just sick innit! 😀 Oh myyy, what did your brother do?? Stupid teachers, hating you because of something a family member did. high fives back! 😀

      • Haha, years down the road all the women will be like looking up to you for scoring a younger man 🙂
Mature? Nah, I think mine has gone on the second round of reliving the childhood… or, do they call it the mid life crisis? haha, yeah, age is irrelevant, and you said it- you just have to click.

My brother actually, during ome kind of an experiment blew sand into the teachers face because the teacher bullied him until he just got fed up. So, sand in face and “go f*ck yourself”… so I guess I don’t blame the teacher for hating me 😀 haha, the reminder in the first row! 😀

        • Lol! Yeah, when he’s still chopping wood while the other hubbies are sleeping in their chairs all day :D. Hahaha, if he’s still in his 30’s, then I don’t think it’s a midlife crisis yet. Reliving childhood can be a good thing for sure, though!
OH dang!! But that means the guy was already an asshole to begin with, so good for your brother! Bad for you later on ;).

  2. This was so much fun to read! I am really not sure I could pick one genre for the rest of my days. I don’t understand how people can do that to themselves intentionally. I think if I was ever asked my number one reading tip I was say “be open-minded”. Obviously you read many different genres so you understand 🙂 Thanks for sharing all of your answers.

    • Thanks Crystal! 🙂 That comment really made my day because I thought this would be horribly boring to read about. I know right? There are so many people who only stick to 1 genre. I think it’s good to read out of your comfort zone as well because you never know what you’ll learn from it! Thank you for reading them ❤
