Midwinter’s Eve Giveaway Hop – CLOSED
Even though my last Giveaway was a little intense (like that camping trip), and I said I would just make an annual thing out of it instead of doing it more often, I still immensely enjoyed the moment when I could finally pick a winner! I love getting presents (duh), but I also love giving them. When I saw the image of a Midwinter’s Eve Giveaway Hop, that was my cue to sign up for it, because damnit, it’s the perfect time to give away presents.
I’ve decided the prize is going to be a Christmas themed/winter themed book and instead of just picking one myself, I’m asking YOU to vote on a book YOU think sounds awesome/is awesome/you want to win. I put up some suggestions myself, so you can vote on one of those, but you can also add a book to the poll yourself. The book with the highest amount of votes will be the Christmas Giveaway book here from the 21st until the 31st of December. You can vote until the 18th of November. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
And this is the end result (whee pie charts that are barely visible):
Because of the whopping amount of 10 votes, I’ve decided the winner can choose between the top two books:
A gorgeous hardcopy of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
OR
A fun paperback copy of The Atheist’s Guide to Christmas (this could change into a hardcopy as well if I can find a reliable vendor that ships to your country). As a bonus Christmas thought: the full book advance and all royalties will go to the UK HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust.
You can win by clicking on the Rafflecopter link below and follow the instructions there. The question for one of the entry options is:
Which of these two books would you pick and why?
You can answer in the comment section below.
Good luck and happy holidays y’all!
Click here to enter your link and view this Linky Tools list…
EDIT: I drew TWO winners because, hey, it’s the most wonderful time of the year and such! You can see who’s won by clicking on the Rafflecopter link again. Thanks y’all for participating! 🙂
Excellent choices of books. I would choose The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and I would give it to my niece and nephews so they could enjoy it as much as I did when I was younger. I might just re read it myself first though.

I would choose The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I have never read this. Now, it is a standard of fifth grade, but I never read it in school. I don’t know how, but I’d love to have a beautiful copy to start with!

That’s a relief to read actually because neither did I! I only watched the movie and listened to an audiobook version of Prince Caspian :).

First of all I think it’s an awesome idea that you let us readers pick which book! Secondly, I would pick The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, because I have seen the movie, but I haven’t yet read the book! I love reading the books I see the movies to, but I just haven’t gotten around to reading this one.

I’d pick The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis because I love the movie based on it.

OK. Gotta say, I find it really interesting that you chose a book for atheists vs. a book that is an allegory for the story of Jesus Christ’s murder and resurrection.
My choice is definitely The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I just picked the ones wherever the most votes went to, but you’re right, this is certainly a big contrast! Something for everyone, though, right? 🙂

I would choose The Atheist’s Guide to Christmas. Growing up, we had a weird mix of Christian Science prayer healing and tarot card readings, but no church. So I think that even if I don’t agree with everything atheist, there would be some useful tips for dealing with the holidays for anyone who doesn’t consider themselves Christian.

That sounds like a mighty fascinating childhood you had there! I believe it’s not so much as a real guide, but more a collection of humorous short stories. I bet you can also learn from those, though, indeed :).
